We flew from Buenos Aires early in the morning and arrived at our wonderful Eco lodge by 11:30 am. They showed us into our cabin and we took a taxi to the Falls. First we took a vehicle through the jungle. The most noticeable were enormous, like 4 m across and numerous layers spider webs. The spider itself was only about 5cm but deadly, it eats the male after mating...Then we had to climb 250 steps of steep terrain down to the river bank to board the zodia boat. We were given rubber bags to protect our cameras and bags, also put our shoes in and we took off towards the Falls. Cat and I put on our raincoats we brought with us just for this trip. We were glad we did. Our zodiac took us through the rapids, splashing everyine. We did stop few times for photos, then proceeded to under the falls area. It was an euphoric experience we will not forget. Huge masses of water above us, the thunderous noise, people screaming with excitement. We escaped mostly dry, others were drenched to the bone. I have to mention that the weather was extremely hot, officially 36C but probably more as we walked in the sun, back up the 250 plus steps. Funny thing, we ran into a tour group from our ship, we said hello...Then we boarded a tourist train to take us to another location, this time above the Falls. We had to walk about 20 minutes, that seemed like eternity, on the metal boardwalks, towards the El Diablo gorge falls. On the way we saw many colourful birds, some larger with yellow tummies, saw some monkeys ,then animals with striped tails sticking up, size of lemurs, numerous turtles, caimans. We came to the falls, feeling the spray on our faces and soon our cameras were covered in water. So taking photos was challenging. But what a site! Enormous quantity of water spilling over the rocky edge into the river bellow, forming numerous rainbows, what a spectacle! Back to the train we went, took a local bus back to our lodge, just 5 min. from the road. We went for swim in our pools, to cool off. We drank 4 bottles of water and still gulped down 2 more on our return. We were very dehydrated. Then after some rest, we had a nice dinner at the lodge. And collapsed to bed after that.
